Overview
Shoresh is a Hebrew-learning application that lets people discover vocabulary, organize study material, and track practice progress. This policy explains what information Shoresh handles and why.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address and the information needed to authenticate your account. Your email identifies your account and lets us provide account recovery and service communications. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, not readable text.
- Google sign-in information: if you choose Google, Shoresh receives your Google account identifier and basic profile information such as your name, email address, email-verification status, and profile image when available.
- Learning information: known-word status, word exposure history, study lists, lesson or course activity, test answers, scores, streaks, and test dates.
- Information you submit: dictionary corrections, course or lesson material, and other content you intentionally provide through the app.
- Security and operational information: session identifiers, timestamps, IP address, browser or device information, and diagnostic logs used to operate and protect the service.
How we use information
We use this information to create and secure accounts, associate learning activity and progress with the correct account, personalize practice, provide account recovery, send account and service communications, investigate errors, prevent abuse, and improve Shoresh.
Google user data
Shoresh uses Google data only to authenticate you and populate basic account details. The email address returned by Google identifies and links your Shoresh account; learning activity is stored against Shoresh's internal account identifier. Shoresh does not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, calendars, or other Google content. Google data is not used for advertising and is not sold.
When information is shared
We do not sell personal information. Information may be processed by service providers that help operate Shoresh, including hosting and database infrastructure, Google for optional sign-in, and an email provider for account recovery and service messages. We may also disclose information when legally required or when necessary to protect users, the service, or the public.
Retention and deletion
We retain account and learning information while your account is active and as reasonably needed to operate the service, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and maintain security. You may request account and personal-data deletion through the support address published with the Shoresh Google sign-in application. Some limited records may be retained when legally required or necessary for security.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so users should keep their credentials private and report suspected unauthorized access.
Your choices
You may use email and password instead of Google sign-in. You may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information through the support address published with the Shoresh Google sign-in application.
Children's privacy
Shoresh is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate authorization. If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, please contact the Shoresh operator.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Shoresh changes. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are published. For privacy questions or requests, use the support email displayed for Shoresh in the Google sign-in consent experience.
